Guide to personal development

If you’ve been here for a while, you know we are BIG fans of the personal development world. It has literally changed our lives.

That being said, we know how scary and weird it can be to get started. There are so many places to start and no real guide to figure it out. So here’s a few things that we have found helps:

  1. Find the biggest sore point in your life and determine what skill you need to fix it.
  2. From there, search books that help with those qualities. For example, I was not a great communicator, leader, or knew anything about integrity. I chose “Extreme Ownership” as a book.
  3. Repeat.

It’s literally that easy. Chose a skill you want to work on, ask people or research best books, buy said book, and get to work.

The work itself is not easy, but choosing a book is.

Also always remember, this is hard work. You will be called out. Your palms will sweat. You will get uncomfortable. But that is where the magic happens.

Ep. 17 – Yoga, self-care, and holistic health with Yoga on the Canal

I can. I will. Watch me.

Carole Martin

This week we had the pleasure of interviewing Carole Martin, founder and owner of Yoga on the Canal in Chesapeake City, Maryland. Carole has the warmest heart and best energy we’ve ever encountered. Kid you not. She has overcome huge adversity and is living proof that regardless of age, gender, or pandemic – you can in fact come out on top. You can find Carole and Yoga on the Canal on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re interested in her class schedule, booking a class, or her upcoming retreat – find that here!

Hope you can keep up with all the amazing knowledge bombs she dropped on us!

Guide to Building Momentum

This is going to be a quick in and out job y’all.

How many times do you start something (i.e. diet, workout, project, etc…) and you start to build momentum. You get going, you start to feel GOOD. So good that you go “oh yes, I deserve a reward”.

You take time off. Eat junk. Take a few extra “rest” days.

Then, when it’s time to get back into it, you feel like crap. It is hard to get into the rhythm. You feel like you’re climbing a fricken mountain.

Sound familiar?

You f**ked with your momentum. It takes time to build it and the second you mess with it, it comes crashing down like a fricken avalanche.

DON’T FUCK WITH YOUR MOMENTUM!!!

Stop taking breaks. Stop celebrating. Fricken BUILD on that momentum. Keep showing the fuck up.

What kind of life do you want to live? One where you are constantly chasing the momentum or one you crush your goals because you soar with the momentum?

Choose wisely my friends.

Where to eat in a day in Key West

If you have been following along, we just returned from Key West this week. Needless to say, this trip filled our cups in ways we didn’t even know was possible. One of the things we LOVE about Key West is the food. Hands down the best. I dream of this food all year long. (I am not even kidding a little bit).

We know a lot of people only go down there for a few days at a time or it’s a stop on the cruise, so here is a day in the life of food for key west.

You’re going to want to start your day at Cuban Coffee Queen. There are several locations in KW. We recommend the iced coffee and key wester!! And also, its strong coffee, so be near a bathroom about 20min after, if you catch my drift…

When you get hungry for lunch after all your shenanigans, head on over to Caroline’s on Duvall St. They have DELICIOUS Dolphin Fingers and their adult beverages are TO DIE FOR.

In the evening, when you’re ready to part-ayyyy, go to Irish Kevin’s! The entertainment, food, and drinks are FABULOUS. When you are done there, go to Sloppy Joe’s- the live music is AMAZING!

Anyhoo!! If you have any other must-do’s comment below to share with the tribe!!

#TuesdayTip

I came up with this name, just now. Seems fitting though.. right?! 🙂

When I was evaluating how I wanted my Phase 2 of #LiveHard to go, I looked at the habits I have put into place as well as habits I desire.

One thing I have been doing consistently is gratitude. Everyday I write down 5 pieces of gratitude. Not big pieces, yet rather small things that occurred either the day before or that day that made me smile. It for sure elevates my mood on good days and make bad days seem less terrible. There is something magical to it, I am telling ya.

There is a TON of research on why daily gratitude is so beneficial. But I am not a scientist, obviously. So check out this article from Forbes. It goes more into it and will probably convince you more than I have to start incorporating it into your daily life.

Anyhoo, I don’t have any crushing things to say about this, so you really just need to do it. Kay? Thanks.

Xo,

Shannon

We did not land that
